SERVICES WE OFFER
BACH FLOWER REMEDIES
Bach Flower Remedies are made from diluted extracts of the flowers of wild plants and are useful in the treatment of emotional problems and pains. These remedies were developed in the 1930s
by Edward Bach, a medical doctor and homeopath.
Comfort Touch is a nurturing form of acupressure designed especially for the elderly, medically frail or ill client. Its primary intention is to provide comfort, deep relaxation, and relief from pain, and can be offered to those not in pain as well.
CranioSacral Therapy is a type of bodywork that relieves compression in the bones of the head, sacrum, and spinal column. Through gentle manipulation the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the central nervous system can be normalized, enhancing the body’s ability to heal and thrive.
The Feldenkrais Method® is a revolutionary educational system developed by physicist and engineer, Moshe Feldenkrais. Through movement instruction and non-invasive touch, this powerful somatic approach improves mobility and reduces pain by re-educating the body’s nervous system.
Healing Touch is an energy therapy that uses nurturing, intentional touch to bring about overall balance and well-being. Classified by the National Institutes of Health as a biofield therapy, it was originally developed as a program for nurses but is now used worldwide by medical and lay people alike.
Herbal Medicine is the study and practice of the therapeutic use of plants to treat disease and enhance general health and well-being. The practice of using herbal medicines dates back thousands of years. Modern herbal medicines, made in a safe and scientific way, can be very effective without the side effects associated with many drugs.
Homeopathic Medicine is a medical system that was developed in Germany more than 200 years ago by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. It’s based on the observation that “like cures like” -- a disease can be cured by a substance that produces similar symptoms in healthy people, and the “law of minimum dose” -- the lower the dose of the medicine, the greater its effectiveness.
Myofascial Therapy is a manual technique that reduces pain and discomfort while balancing the body’s posture. This realignment allows the body to move fluidly and function more efficiently, and is useful in the treatment of both acute and chronic conditions.
NEAR-INFRARED LIGHT THERAPY
Infrared light therapy is not new. Our ancestors warmed themselves by the fire and enjoyed the therapeutic effects of full spectrum infrared energy. What is relatively new is Near-Infrared Light Therapy—the ability to generate narrow, near-infrared frequency bands to stimulate healing by providing concentrated, focused beams of invisible (to the human eye) light.
Neuromuscular Therapy is a precise, hands-on approach to treating muscular discomfort and pain. The goal of this therapy is problem-solving a patient’s particular muscular discomfort through skilled assessment, then application of precise treatments. It is highly successful in reducing or eliminating even longstanding painful conditions.
Nutritional Counseling is based on decades of medical research on the relationship between diet, nutrition and health outcomes. A foundational approach to nutrition is one that honors the body’s innate intelligence while offering specific tools for managing individual nutritional needs.
Polarity Therapy was developed in the late 19th century by
Dr. Randolph Stone who understood the body as a system of energy fields in which life energy is kept in constant motion by the pull of opposite poles that act like magnets. Light touch and manipulative techniques are used to relieve stagnation and encourage the free flow of energy within and around the body.
Psychosynthesis was developed early in the 20th century by Italian psychiatrist Roberto Assagioli. It is a comprehensive approach to human growth and development that assumes a basic drive toward growth and wholeness in each of us, and that the obstruction of this natural process results in the cause of many emotional, physical, mental and social ills.
Reflexology is the application of pressure on feet, hands, and ears to bring about a positive physiological change in corresponding organs and systems in the body. Studies indicate that reflexology can reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as stress and anxiety, and can enhance relaxation and sleep.
Reiki is a 200-year-old Tibetan form of laying upon of hands (also known as palm healing) based on the principles of universal life energy or Chi. Used to treat both acute and chronic conditions, Reiki is excellent for cancer patients undergoing treatment, as well as those recovering from surgery, accidents, and trauma.
Sensory Awareness is a mindfulness practice through which we connect with our own natural intelligence and vitality. German born Charlotte Selver introduced Sensory Awareness to the United States in 1950, offering courses that were among the first to influence institutions in “body-awareness” and “non-verbal experience.”
Therapeutic Massage is an ancient and honored tradition, flourishing in modern times as a powerful healing art. Therapists at the Holistic Health Center are licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio and are experienced in a multitude of modalities which are described elsewhere on this site.
Zero Balancing is a hands-on healing system developed by osteopathic physician Fritz Smith. Designed to align the subtle energy body with the physical body, this method recognizes that the energy body directly affects and is often responsible for mood, emotions and vitality. Changes in energy often precede illness and can have a causal relation to disease in the body.
